Thirteen years ago Kara had a part-time job at Pat’s, a dog and some cats. Now she’s the co-owner, with an entire menagerie at home that includes chickens, ducks, cats, a dog and a husband. If there’s something you want to know about clothing or promotional products, Kara is the one who can help you, with her encyclopedic knowledge of our products always at her fingertips. After a peripatetic childhood as a member of a Park Service family, she has settled happily in Gunnison for the last two-plus decades, although she still loves to travel, hike and camp.
TL, a proud graduate of Lake Elementary (then a K-6 school), Ruland Junior High (long gone), Gunnison High School (still here, but looks nothing the same) and the University of Colorado-Boulder, spent 10 years as a journalist and three as a bookseller, intermingled with time as an adjunct English lecturer at WSC and winter airline baggage router, before coming in to offer assistance to his sick friend Pat Greene. Almost 19 years later, he’s still here, and so is Pat’s Screen Printing. We like to think both of these things would make Pat happy.
Ben graduated from Sonoma State University (California) in 2011 with his BFA in printmaking. Shortly afterward he embarked on a blissful quest for greatness, finding himself in Gunnison. In April 2012 he was taken on as the graphic designer in the Pat’s family. When he’s not here at Pat’s or maintaining a home for his two cats, he trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu year-round. Like most Gunnison folk he loves his summer outdoor adventures, but prefers the escape of his fantasy RPG’s during the cold winters.

Gilly has called the Gunnison Valley home for the past 26 years, after leaving the United Kingdom. She came via South America to visit a friend, and the rest is history. Some of her many hats include being the mother of two and a “crazy cat lady.” She has worked at both ends of the valley, choosing businesses that encourage her creative side and her love of meeting and helping people. This she gets to experience at Pat’s on a regular basis, since joining the team last fall. When she’s not working, she enjoys getting creative with recycled projects, riding a bike, paddling a kayak and generally enjoying this wonderful place she calls home.
Brandon graduated from our own WSCU with a bachelor of fine arts in printmaking. After that he essentially transferred out of one studio and into another here at Pat’s. With three years under his belt at Pat’s he now has a total of seven years’ printmaking experience. Have an idea? This self-professed “Ink Master” can make it happen for you!
James, of the House Powell, fourth of his name, is a 2017 graduate of Western State with a degree in English and a minor in business. He has been here at Pat’s for the past three years and helps both on the production and retail sides. And yes, he always wears a tie to work.
A member of the Pat’s team for 11 years, Jeff helps the printers by cleaning their screens. A lifelong Gunnison community member, Jeff graduated from Gunnison High School as a 4.0 student. He sees himself as a good friend and hard worker who is also an athlete. He recently received a gold medal for downhill skiing at the Winter Special Olympics.
Liz is a senior at Western studying Mathematics and Psychology who has worked at Pat’s for a year as a squincher, spending her days unpacking and repacking, folding and unfolding shirts. She has been living in the Gunnison Valley since 2013. An animal lover with a zoo of animals to prove it, she spends her spare time rafting down the Gunnison or taking her black Lab for a walk.
Fortino first came to us through a work-study program in the art department at Gunnison High School. We were so impressed with his work ethic that we just had to keep him. Now, a mere four years later, he has become the fastest printer in the West. He is just as skilled behind the press as he is on the soccer field, and trust us, that is a very good thing.
A fixture at Pat’s for 11 ½ years, Donnie prepares some supplies for the printers and keeps the place neat and clean. As a side benefit, he likes to tell us jokes and make us laugh. Donnie is a native Coloradan who has been in Gunnison nearly 30 years. When not at work here, he likes to hang out at Six Points, participating in the art projects and other activities. He is also an avid photographer whose work can be found on cards for purchase here at Pat’s.
Ozzyx, age 6, arrived in Gunnison last October via the Gunnison Valley Animal Welfare League, and he was put to work almost immediately as a part-time greeter at Pat’s. He likes cookies and lunch meat, and enjoys rooting through the trash when TL and Lynn are not at home with him.
